Eigg Guide

Eigg Ferry Port

The Isle of Eigg’s port is in Galmisdale, a small village nestling in the island’s southeast corner. The new ferry terminal was completed in 2004 and consists of a large unattended slipway, so tickets should be purchased on board. Adjacent to the slipway is the terminal building which houses a small waiting area with seats, toilet facilities and a public telephone. Eigg’s most dominant feature, the pitchstone peak of the Sgurr, becomes visible as you approach the harbour, resulting in an impressive backdrop so have your camera at the ready.

Muck Guide

Muck Ferry Port

The Isle of Muck’s harbour lies in the main village of Port Mor on the southeast coast. The pier and causeway were built in 2005, allowing ferries to dock on the island and tourism to flourish. Port Mor is situated at the southern end of the island’s only road, so it is easily reachable from the village of Gallanach in the north. Although small in size, the Isle of Muck is rich with fascinating monuments. Just north of the harbour lies A’chille, an old burial ground, and to the west of Port Mor, you’ll find prehistoric fort remains.
