About Andros

Andros is the largest archipelago in the Bahamas, measuring 23,000 square miles, but is politically regarded as a single island. Vast stretches of unexplored backcountry dominate the landscape, making Andros a fantastic destination for nature lovers and eco-tourists. Fringing the eastern coastline is the world’s third largest barrier reef, and the waters are filled with enormous underwater caves and an abundance of colourful marine life. The western shoreline boasts incredible fishing spots, too, with Andros considered the best location in the world for bonefishing, a premier gamefish. There are, of course, also some superb beaches with immaculate white sand and bright blue waters, so there’s something for everyone on this Bahamian gem. As a country with many islands and archipelagos, travelling by ferry is a popular way to get around in the Bahamas. From Andros, you can sail across to New Providence from the port in Andros Town on the east coast.

About New Providence

New Providence is an island in the Bahamas, home to around seventy percent of the country's population who primarily reside in the vibrant capital, Nassau. Small, yet full of energy, New Providence is wonderfully chaotic, allowing your senses not a moment’s peace. But that’s all to be expected from an island once roamed by pirates and, albeit fictitiously, James Bond. Bustling markets and festivities on stunning beaches are commonplace, but there are plenty of options for those who need some downtime; fascinating galleries and historic sites can be found all over Nassau. The pirate museum offers an insight into the island’s swashbuckling history, whilst the enormous, ruinous Fort Charlotte affords lovely hilltop views and makes a brilliant day trip for families. Given the capital’s location in the heart of the Bahamas, New Providence is one of the nation’s travel hubs, with numerous ferries docking in Nassau all week from a number of Bahamian islands.
