Ferry to Bilbao reviews

  • "A very smooth crossing"

We crossed from Rosslare to Bilbao on 5/6th January. The ferry left on time and arrived early. Check in, embarking and disembarking were efficient. The vessel was the Connemara. The lounge accommodation was basic but comfortable and the 4 birth cabin was for our sole use (we were two passengers). The food was good and plentiful from the self-service cafe. We had excellent weather for the crossing which was very smooth. Covid-19 rules were very clear and followed by crew and passengers alike. The vessel was not full. Our only criticisms are that the lounge area was very cold (requiring that we wear our outside coats all trip), the carpet in our cabin was damp (something we only discovered when we took our shoes off to retire) and the free wifi was very slow and set to turn off every 30 minutes which was rather frustrating. Otherwise the crossing was good and we would certainly travel this route or any other with Brittany Ferries again.

  • "Return from spain 17th/18th March"

We cannot thank you enough for the care you took of us; the loading at Bilboa, the care on board, your support with food in our cabins and finally the unloading at Portsmouth. The care of your crew for us all. Thank you. Our only critical thing is the directions to the ferry port. They are terrible and need looking at. We only got there because of the name given us by staff in Lidl Bilbao, policemen in Bilbao who said it was on otherside of river estuary and a friend who gave us the name of S------- (cannot remember the name and spelling, map in car and we are isolating so cannot get it) at the mouth of the river. Did not see any ferry signs until nearly there. Didn't help with signs being sometimes in Spannish and sometimes in Basque. Would use Brittany ferries again but not Bilbao. Lucky we used Bilbao this time as think this was last ferry to UK and from Santander to UK cancelled.

  • "Enjoyable"

Staff were very helpful, polite and informative. We were delayed because of bad weather and was offered a drink. The cabins were clean. All in all was very pleased with our trip
