GLD Lines crossing between Toulon (Brégaillon) and Civitavecchia (Rome) linked two of the most beautiful Mediterranean regions providing an alternative to the congested transalpine roads. The route provided transport companies and tourists alike with an opportunity to actively participate in an environmentally friendly and sensible logistic promoted in recent years by the European Commission through the Sea Motorways concept.
During the summer season there was also weekly service between Civitavecchia, Livorno and Porto Vecchio (Corsica).
There are currently no signs of this crossing being revived.
