Superfast VIII is one of the largest and most luxurious ferries in the Stena Line fleet and promises a high level of quality, comfort and service. The Superfast VII provides the best ferry experience on the Irish Sea with numerous facilities including a Nordic Spa, the ‘POD Lounge’, a chill out Living Room, ‘Taste’ dining area, free Wi-Fi, free movies, Curious George for the kids and the exclusive Stena Plus Lounge.
Due to the short crossing, cabin accommodation is not available on the Superfast VIII however reserved seating is available in the Stena Plus Lounge. Stena Plus offers a range of comfortable leather seating including sofas and sofa chairs on two levels, so you can find the area which is just right for you.
In addition to seating, passengers who travel in the luxurious Stena Plus lounge can enjoy waiter service and choose from a premium menu which includes a range of speciality seafood dishes and old favourites. So you can simply relax in your seats and order meals at your leisure.
The all new quick food experience ‘TASTE’ serves a great selection of fresh and tasty meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s something to suit all tastes and complimentary refills on tea and coffee while in the Barista Coffee House and Bar you can savour a range of Italian Coffee or a tempting snack.
The Superfast VIII shop offers a range of gifts, jewellery and fragrances with prices on average 40% cheaper than the UK high street.
Chill out in the onboard ‘Living Room’ and enjoy complimentary magazines and all the latest news on 70” plasma TV screens.
Visit the ‘Pure Nordic Spa’ for a dip in the Jacuzzi or sauna to ensure you arrive rejuvenated and revived (only available to Stena Plus customers).
In the new concept POD lounge you’ll find an interactive zone with all the latest in technology including iPads, Xboxes and surf stations and a futuristic living digital display on the floor. There is also free Wi-Fi in the lounge and throughout the vessel.
If that isn’t enough to keep you occupied during your trip then sit back, relax and enjoy one of the free movies in the onboard cinema!
The Stena Superfast VIII features a Curious George™ themed play area with soft play corner providing a safe and fun environment for children. In addition to the soft play area, there is a children’s cinema and an interactive zone with touch screen technology meaning there's lots to keep young ones occupied. And for parents peace of mind there is a seating area close by to relax and keep an eye on the little ones!

"Efficient service and crossing"
Both journeys were very efficient. Food was very good and bonus of free refills on hot drinks. Would definitely use this service again.

The ferrie was really confortable; plenty of places to sit or walk. I was able to do some of my physical activities :). The only negative thing was the toilets that did not flush (but it seems it was an isolated problem, which was corrected by the time we arrived in Scotland). I recommand it overall

Loved it- short crossings, polite staff and quick and efficient at the ports. Shop was nice and there was plenty of seating. We left early as everyone arrived early for both crossings.

Booked the tickets thinking it was going to be a small ferry with no frills. Wow! We were so surprised when we arrived at Stena Lines. Had a wonderful time!!

It's the first time I've used this service, went to watch Crusaders v Wolves (won 4-1) and will certainly use it again. There were slight delays in punctuality but overall very good. I found the food expensive so as the crossing was only just over two hours, I decided to wait. The overall experience was excellent.

"Crusaders V Wolves"
Booked at the last minute as a foot passenger to get to and from the game. Nice clean ship, but was 30 minutes late leaving which meant the 96 bus into Belfast had been and gone, so it was eaither a 2 hrs wait for the next one, or a taxi. On time for the return to Cairnryan.

Our journey from Cairnryan to Belfast was superb. So clean and efficient and such a smooth ride. The staff were all so happy and obliging. We could not fault them at all

"Amazing Boat trip "
I was left with my jaw dropped at how incredible this boat was. Top of the line accommodations, lots of places to sit and great food. I was baffled that so many trucks, buses and cars could fit in a boat like that too, very incredible to witness.

"Trip to Belfast by bicycle"
Traveling with a bicycle, but unfortunately there were no proper storage facilities/bike racks onboard. Bike had to be left in a crew room. Previously travelled Harwich to the Hook of Holland and they had racks to store bicycles.

The trip was very comfortable, although an hour late for ‘technical reasons’. The passenger lounge at Belfast is also comfortable although it was hugely overcrowded in the wait. However my trip was not uneventful. My car broke down in Ireland and the three passengers and the car were being recovered to the UK by the RAC. Which meant that we were travelling as foot passengers! I attempted to call Direct Ferries 25 hours before departure in order to cancel the car booking (t&c are that this can be done up to 24 hours before the trip). I waited in the call queue for an hour and never got higher than the 11th in the queue! I gave up and accepted that I would lose the car fare.

"A Great Journey!"
This is the best journey we have gad to Ireland via ferry. Port facilities were good. The boat was clean and modern. Catering facilities were good although there were very limited vegetarian and vegan food options.
